Luis Diaz
Attorney at Law
Luis Diaz is a bilingual (Spanish-English) family law attorney dedicated to serving individuals and families with integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment. Drawing from his military service, diverse legal background, and personal life experiences, Luis provides thoughtful legal guidance while helping clients navigate some of life’s most challenging transitions with confidence and respect.
Luis earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, summa cum laude, from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico before receiving his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. Fluent in both written and spoken Spanish, he is passionate about providing clear communication and meaningful access to legal representation for both English- and Spanish-speaking clients.
Before joining Thaler Law, Luis served clients through Alaska Legal Services, where he represented individuals and families in a variety of legal matters, including family law, housing disputes, veterans’ benefits, Social Security, and mortgage foreclosure defense. This broad legal experience strengthened his ability to advocate for clients facing difficult and often life-changing circumstances while reinforcing his commitment to serving those in need.
Luis proudly served in the United States Marine Corps as an infantry rifleman from 2003 to 2007. During his military service, he deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq, and with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable). His time in the Marines instilled the discipline, resilience, and sense of service that continue to shape both his personal life and legal practice. After completing his military service, Luis pursued higher education with the goal of building a career dedicated to helping others through the law.
Luis approaches every family law matter with the understanding that each case involves real people facing difficult decisions about their future. Having experienced the effects of divorce within his own family, he understands the lasting impact family conflict can have on children and parents alike. He believes children benefit from having both parents actively involved in their lives whenever possible and strives to help clients pursue practical solutions that protect the best interests of their children while seeking reasonable common ground whenever appropriate.
Outside of the office, Luis enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young sons. As a military family, they have lived in several states across the country, including Maryland, Alaska, Arkansas, and Texas, experiences that have broadened his perspective and appreciation for people from all walks of life. In his free time, he enjoys grilling, working out, off-roading, road trips, and playing video games.
Luis also believes in giving back to his community through volunteer service. He has participated in literacy programs helping others learn English and has provided pro bono immigration assistance to individuals seeking a better future.
